Cleaning bag filters – the key to efficient and safe filtration

Bag filters are among the most important devices in dust extraction systems. Their task is to capture dust particles and contaminants that are suspended in the air during industrial processes. The air drawn into the installation passes through the filter material in the bags, where fine particles remain on the surface. Over time, however, a thicker and thicker layer of dust begins to accumulate on the walls of the filters, which hinders airflow and reduces the efficiency of the entire system.

In order for the system to operate effectively, regular regeneration of the bags, i.e. their cleaning, is necessary. This is a process no less important than the filtration itself – on its effectiveness depends the life of the system, the cost of its maintenance and, above all, the safety of employees and the plant. A properly selected cleaning system allows you to maintain consistent filter performance, reduces energy consumption, and reduces the risk of forming dangerous dust clouds, which in an ATEX environment can pose an explosion hazard.

Cleaning systems from NEU-JKF

There are many methods available on the market for regenerating filter bags – from pulsed cleaning with compressed air, to backwashing, to mechanical shaking. NEU-JKF Poland has developed and implemented proprietary solutions that combine proven technology with intelligent control, providing users with full control over the process and long-term plant efficiency.

One key solution is the EC Cleaning system, which uses compressed air to precisely clean the bags. Nozzles located above each filter direct pulses of air directly to where dust accumulates, making regeneration fast and effective. The operator can independently adjust the timing of pulses and interruptions, and control is both at the pressure valve level and via PLC systems. EC Cleaning also provides additional features, such as automatic “final cleaning,” which starts when the fan is shut down, ensuring that the filters are fully prepared for the next cycle of operation. Depending on your needs, the system can also be supported by a shaking mechanism or an airflow reversing fan – both of which effectively remove dust from inside the bags in different modes of operation.

Taking innovation even further is the proprietary PowerPulse® system, developed by NEU-JKF Poland. It is distinguished by its unique design, in which each bag is cleaned individually by a moving arm equipped with jet valves. As a result, cleaning is exceptionally thorough and uniform, and is carried out at very low pressure – from 1.5 to 3 bar. This solution significantly reduces energy and compressed air consumption, as well as extending the life of the filter bags. PowerPulse® is available in a number of filter models – including Blower, SuperBlower, DustStorm® and SuperJet – and can also be installed in existing installations.

The whole is complemented by intelligent ECOTROL® or ECO-PowerPulse® control, which integrates with PC and PLC systems, monitoring all components in real time. This gives the operator full control over the operation of the plant, and any faults are immediately signaled. What’s more, PowerPulse® is designed to minimize the formation of dust clouds during compressed air pulses. This is an aspect that is particularly important in environments where explosive dusts are present – that is, in the wood, food, pharmaceutical or metallurgical industries.

Efficiency, safety, savings

Cleaning the filter bags is a process that determines the reliability of the entire dust extraction system. Thanks to advanced solutions such as EC Cleaning and PowerPulse®, NEU-JKF systems not only maintain high filtration efficiency, but also reduce operating costs and increase operational safety.
Modern bag regeneration technologies mean less energy consumption, less frequent need to replace cartridges, and greater process stability. This is an investment that pays off quickly – both financially and environmentally.
