What is an explosion-proof check valve?
A backflow preventer is a safety device installed in the ducts of a dust collection system, the main task of which is to stop the pressure wave and flames resulting from an explosion before they have time to spread towards the protected equipment – most often the production hall, the fan or other parts of the system.
Thanks to its design, the flap opens during normal operation of the system, allowing the free flow of air, while in the event of a sudden increase in pressure it closes immediately, creating a barrier to the explosion wave.
Operating principle and application
This solution is mainly used:
between the filter and the fan – protects the fan from the effects of an explosion,
on process line extractions – protects suction lines,
at dust collectors operating in ATEX – explosion hazardous areas.
