From September 2–4, 2026, NEU-JKF participated in the 30th anniversary “Comprehensive Waste Management – Waste Management Industry Conference” in Pobierowo. Organized by Abrys, the event once again provided a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences among representatives of municipal facilities, local governments, industry organizations, and technology suppliers for the waste management sector.
NEU-JKF was present at the conference both at its booth and during the substantive sessions of the event. Face-to-face meetings with industry representatives provided an opportunity to discuss the current needs of waste treatment facilities, planned investments, and the role of modern dust collection systems in enhancing the safety and efficiency of technological processes.
Dust extraction as a component of an effective recycling process
One of the items on the conference agenda was a presentation by Michał Sieklucki of NEU-JKF titled “Dust Removal as a Key Element of an Effective Recycling Process.”
The presentation focused on the importance of properly designed dust collection systems in waste treatment facilities. In such facilities, dust can be generated at many stages of the process—including during crushing, screening, sorting, transport, and transloading of materials. Its properties and quantity can vary significantly depending on the type of material being processed.
An effective dust collection system must therefore take into account not only the required capacity but also the specific characteristics of the material, process variability, the layout of extraction points, fire and explosion safety, and the ability to integrate with the facility’s existing infrastructure.
The growing potential of the waste management sector
The recycling and waste management industry is undergoing a period of rapid change. Rising requirements for recycling rates, advances in automation and sorting, the need to increase raw material recovery, and the modernization of municipal facilities all point to the need to invest in increasingly advanced technologies.
As productivity and the level of process automation increase, so does the importance of support infrastructure—including dust collection systems. These systems are not merely a solution for maintaining cleanliness in the plant. A properly designed system contributes to the safety of employees and processes, reduces dust emissions, ensures the reliability of process equipment, and maintains production continuity.
A particular challenge in the waste management sector is the wide variety of materials processed. Dusts can be light and fibrous, abrasive, moist, or potentially flammable and explosive. The system must therefore be designed specifically for the given process, and in the presence of potentially explosive atmospheres, it must also comply with ATEX requirements.
NEU-JKF’s comprehensive approach
NEU-JKF designs and implements complete dust collection systems for recycling and waste management facilities—from process analysis and identification of emission sources, through the selection of filtration and material handling technologies, to automation, explosion protection, installation and commissioning of the system.
Experience from completed projects shows that effective dust removal should be treated as an integral part of the technological process as early as the plant design or modernization stage. This allows the system to be tailored to actual operating conditions, reduces energy consumption, and prepares the installation for future expansion and changes in the production process.
Participating in the “Comprehensive Waste Management” conference provided our team with another opportunity to engage in direct discussions with industry representatives and exchange experiences regarding the challenges facing modern waste treatment facilities.
