VFV® EXPLOSION VENTING SYSTEM
In industrial environments, dust can be extremely explosive, requiring effective safety solutions that comply with the ATEX directive. This directive was created to prevent uncontrolled pressure build-up in the event of a dust explosion. In industrial filters, which consist of a dust chamber and a clean air chamber, explosions most often occur in the dust zone. To overcome these challenges, explosion suppression or controlled release of pressure to the environment is used.
Innovative VFV® solution
Traditional systems with explosion membranes mounted at the bottom of the filter release pressure horizontally. This can lead to the ejection of flames, burning dust particles and secondary explosions, posing a risk to buildings and personnel. The VFV® explosion venting system that NEU-JKF offers eliminates these problems by releasing pressure vertically into the clean air chamber.
Advantages of the VFV® System:
– Explosion membranes located at the top of the filter ensure that explosive dust is retained in the filter bags.
– The shock wave is safely discharged into the surrounding environment.
– The risk of secondary explosions is completely eliminated.
– Occupants in the vicinity of the filter are protected from the effects of the shock wave.
Additional Features:
– Explosion detectors: Monitor system operation, detect the opening of the membrane, and immediately shut down other components such as fans.
– Explosion ducting: For filters located outside production facilities, allow explosions to be safely discharged outside the building.
The VFV® system has been tested and approved by the German FSA test institute for many of the filters in the NEU-JKF portfolio. This innovative solution provides unparalleled safety and protection in demanding industrial environments.
